Easter Craft-Bunny Jars

Good morning!  I wanted to re-post this project from Spring of 2013.  It was by far one of my favorite little crafts.  I would make more every year if I could easily find the little bunnies.  These were super easy and they look so cheerful.  If you are looking for a quick easy little Easter gift, this is easy and was well received.  Good luck finding the little bunnies though.
Say Hello to Bunny Jars!

This craft was really cheap for me.  I only spent around $15 because I already had most of the supplies.  I only needed to purchase candy, Easter grass, a few extra jars, and the bunnies of course.  The following is the breakdown of supplies needed.
Supplies Needed
The bunnies turned out to be a surprise find in the end but I had a hard time finding.  I searched Oriental Trading, Wal-Mart, Dollar Tree, and Googled plastic bunnies a million different ways and came up empty then I stumbled upon these at my local thrift store for $1.49…LUCKY!
Of course you need spray paint too, I had quite the pastel collection already.

Really simple instructions
Step 1 –Use the Goo Gone to remove the labels from food jars and then wash
Step 2-Super Glue the bunnies to the lids
Step 3- Spray primer on the lids
Step 4-Spray paint in the chosen color
Step 5-Assemble the grass, candy, lid

Tall Green Jar
Yellow Bunny Jar
Short Coral Jar
I can’t pick my favorite, they are all so cute.  I think they make great Easter or Spring décor as well as Easter gifts for friends or family.

Happy Bunny Hopping finding to you all!

Spring Wreath

I hope it is feeling a little more like Spring in your area.  We had a fantastically beautiful weekend and the weather finally seems to be getting a little warmer.
I wanted to update our front door wreath with something a bit more cheerful.  After Christmas I usually just put up my plain grapevine wreath with our family monogram on the front.  Its simple and easy and could be used anytime year round.
But for Spring and Easter season I like something with a little more color and something that is a bit more seasonal.
I updated my old Spring grapevine wreath with Easter eggs by just removing those and revamped the wreath with flowers and a cute Spring sign.
Spring Wreath
I found these beautiful ranunculus flowers at Michaels Crafts at 1/2 off and they made the perfect pop of color for what I had in mind.  The branches I already had on hand.  I found the little tags at Target in the dollar spot and hot glued those to twine and strung them across the wreath for a simple spring sign.  The best thing about this is once we get in to Summer I can remove the Spring sign easy and use this wreath well into the warmer months.
I love using grapevine wreaths, they are so easy to decorate and change out.  They give you a natural feel and are great seasonally.  I just cut the stems on the flowers and stuck them in the wreath, very easy.  I highly recommend having a few grapevine wreaths in different sizes on hand.  You can find them at any craft store.

On another note, I wanted to pass along a new company I learned of,  Patience Brewster.  They offer whimsical designs and are best known for their ornaments.  Check them out online if you have time.  Patience Brewster Online

Hope you have a wonderful week!

Christmas Cotton Wreaths

Hi guys!  I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  I bet most of you are burning off all those calories with some Black Friday shopping!  Not me, I will be avoiding those crowds!
Today I am sharing with you my second craft in the Countdown to Christmas Craft Series, my Christmas Cotton Wreaths.  I love to add natural elements into my décor when possible and cotton is just so pretty.  I remember my Mom used to have this beautiful cotton wreath in our kitchen, it was there for the longest time and brings back good memories.  I personally love using cotton in my Christmas décor so I wanted to incorporate it into some wreaths that I could use inside.

This project was another easy one that really didn’t take much time.  You will need a few supplies, grapevine wreaths, cotton, floral berries and greenery stems.  You may also want hot glue and small garden clippers to trim up the wreaths and shape them a bit better.

Halloween Decorating

You all know I love Halloween and I go a bit overboard with the décor!  I wanted to share a few pictures of the inside of the house all decked out in black and orange.
Our living room mantle looks very similar to last year but I just love that bunting.  I try not to go crazy in the living room since I have so much color in there already.  I enjoyed having an extra cabinet to work with this year, it was fun to fill.

I picked up this “31” at Homegoods this season and was super excited to have a new Halloween picture.  I had fun spray painting dried hydrangeas for a eerie look.

The other area of the house that I added Halloween décor to is the dining room.  I have so much fun seasonally decorating my china cabinet.

Christmas Décor Tour

Hi There! Merry Christmas Time!!  I’m jumping on the blog band wagon today to share my Christmas decorating this year.  I would say it’s simple & eclectic this year, our new house is really challenging me in my holiday decorating.  I don’t have much room for a lot of stuff and I don’t like clutter so I kept things to a minimum.
I simply put up a tree in our living room and added a few other touches to that room, the dining area and office.  I showed you all the bedroom here.  I’ve had the decorations up since after Thanksgiving but I’ve been so busy I just haven't’ had the time to post.

Office Wrapping
You noticed even my wrapping paper is eclectic this year, Ha!  I bought several fine paper rolls from The Container Store two years ago after Christmas and just had to use a few this year.  The plain brown paper and reindeer paper came from Target this season and that reindeer paper is my FAVORITE!  I have used my gifts as décor and they are not under the tree to keep big chocolate paws off of them!
Only 7 days til Christmas!  Hope you enjoyed the little tour and I hope you are all having a great Holiday Season.  I am looking forward to some family time and get togethers this weekend with great friends!

Snow Scenes

I’ve been seeing little snow globe décor everywhere this season.  I just love miniature worlds like diorama's, snow globes, & fairy gardens so I decided to have a little fun and make a few snow scenes in jars and bottles I had around the house.  I picked up all the other supplies at the craft store, a great area to look is where they keep the Christmas village trees.
Church Globe
Bottle Globe
These two are in my bedroom so I added a little reindeer pillow for a little more Christmas cheer here.

I’m planning on keeping my Christmas decorating really simple this year.  I like how in this room I have just a few touches and it is enough.
Sleigh Globe
Here is the last scene, it was a bit hard to photograph but it’s a little sleigh with ornaments and trees stacked inside.
These were so simple to make, I simply added the parts and then the snow.  I put a small amount of hot glue to the bottom or the trees to hold them in place and that was it!
I have been doing a little more decorating today and we went out to buy our Christmas tree today!  It seems so early to me but I want to get the tree up next weekend and have time to enjoy it this season.
Have you started decorating yet?

Shiny Brite Wreath

Two years ago I rushed into TJ Maxx on Christmas Eve to buy these beautiful Shiny Brite ornaments I had been eyeing all season.  I felt like waiting until after Christmas may be too big of a chance so I snagged them for 25% off and bought 5 boxes of green and red ornaments.
I typically don’t decorate with much green and red for Christmas, I like more jewel toned colors but these were so pretty…no worries, I picked up plenty of pink, purple, blue, and silver too.  I had planned to make a wreath out of the green and red from the day I bought them, however, last year we were still living with Will’s parents so I didn’t decorate.
Traditionally I will not pull the first Christmas item out until Thanksgiving weekend but I wanted to start early on my wreath and I love it!  I am ready to start the decorating!!
Wreath Completed
This was so easy to make and it looks like it is really expensive.  To make one yourself  you will need a foam wreath, hot glue gun and glue sticks, PLENTY of ornaments (I used some cheap filler ones from the craft store), and ribbon to hang.
Supplies
I tied the ribbon on the wreath and picked a spot and just started gluing, placing ornaments  together like a puzzle.
Step One
When you are all done you will have hot glue strands all over so I just used a hairdryer to melt them away.
I love this finished wreath and it has inspired me to use a little more traditional colors this season!

Halloween At My House

If you know me or have been following this blog for long you know I LOVE Halloween!  Through the process of moving I have not decorated for TWO years!!  I had lots of fun pulling out my old decorations and buying up pumpkins at our state farmers market this year.  Here is a little house tour of my Halloweenies as I like to say.
Front Porch
Side of Porch
Pumpkin Gatherings
The porch was the most fun to decorate because we have this really wide front porch now and it called for lots of pumpkins.  They are a mixture of real ones and fake ones that I already had.  I made sure not to ignore the side where we walk up so I can enjoy them everyday!  I may decide to add spooky spider webs as we near Halloween but for now this feels fun and cheerful.
Mantel
Inside I found that it is hard to use a lot of decoration because our new floor plan is so open to the living rooms so I created a couple of fun vignette's.
Mantel Pumpkins
This is a small little Dollar store candle holder spray painted black.

Tablescape
Surprise for you here,  this is a table makeover I haven’t even shared yet.  I’ll be sure to show you the before pictures soon.

Pumpkins Table
I think this little pumpkin in the center was my favorite find at the farmer’s market, it has the coolest colors.
Curiosity Cabinet
Lastly I have a cabinet of curiosities in my dining room.  I pulled together spooky Halloween décor with ironstone and glass for an intriguing look.

I just love tying the spooky decorations and the fun colors together at Halloween.  It was also fun to decorate a new house and use my old stuff in new ways.

Easter Wreath

It’s cold in NC today so I decorated with Easter wreath’s I made this week to welcome Spring.

Simple Easter Wreath

This was so easy to make.  I purchased the grape vine wreath and fake flowers at Wal-Mart.  I had extra décor eggs and moss from Michael's craft store.  I just arranged and hot glued everything down.

It was so easy I made a mini one for inside too.

Small Easter Wreath

I realized after downloading this photo, I should probably clean that mirror! Yikes!

wreath on mirror

I used a trick I saw on Pinterest to hang this.  Just take a 3M removable hook and hang it upside down.  I just cut a little hole in the ribbon and it’s done.

Easter Front Door

Are you guys excited about Spring and Easter?  I love Easter, I think it is my 2nd favorite holiday to Halloween!  This year I get to share my Birthday weekend with it.  I’ll turn a year older the day before but it will be great spending both with family!
