Styling Shelves

Hello readers!  I know I have been super slack lately with posting.  I am a pretty up to the minute, project by project blogger and don’t have a lot in my project bank, living with family pretty much kills any personal projects.  I have some furniture waiting to be painted but no space to paint and I have a few things to show you that my Mom is doing to her kitchen but for now I am inventing projects.
A few weeks ago I asked my in laws if I could re-style their living room shelves.  I had a lot of fun just snooping around their attic looking for trinkets to use.

I was asked to leave the Giants helmet so that was the only thing I had to work around.  I wanted to add more fall/football anyway so not a problem.  They already had some great stuff on the shelves, just needed a little tweaking.
Here is the after

I also had some fun arranging a couple other areas of the living and dining room vignette areas so that was a surprise when they arrived home.
Maybe one of these days I will show you guys our current living space.  It is great, we have a little upstairs apartment (minus a kitchen) but it is nice to have our own space.  I do find myself wanting to decorate it, I am trying to rein myself in….I am an incurable decorator!!  I need to stay away from TJ Maxx and Home Goods and Pinterest!  Can’t wait to have my own house again.

Welcome to Atlanta

I teased you all on Facebook and Instagram a couple weeks ago.  I went to Atlanta with friends to go to the opening football game for NC State and Tennessee but really the highlight for me was finally going to a Pottery Barn Outlet store!   Heaven on Earth.  As soon as I walked in I texted Will to say, “you better be glad we don’t own a home right now!”  It would have been a hot mess!
I was really thrilled to find that they had current bedding, towels, and dinnerware.  They also had current accessories.  It was really a great experience and I will be planning a trip again once we have a house of our own.
Here is some of the cool stuff I found. I really didn’t take too many pictures, I was too busy looking.

These were in the Fall catalog along with cut out pumpkins and mercury glass pumpkins that were also in the outlet.
My biggest purchase was this punched tin lantern that was marked as $49.99 from $79.99 and it was 25% off for Labor Day sales.

I also bought a few vase fillers but these little pumpkins were my favorite!

We also went into a Restoration Hardware outlet and they had some really pretty stuff but it was still really expensive.
I would love this couch, so soft and buttery.

These “found” jars were really neat but at about $80-150 a pop I think I can “find” some at the flea market!  Love the grouping.

This outlet center also had a William Sonoma Outlet,  it was great too.  I also went to the Ballard Design Backroom while in ATL but was not impressed.  Overall great shopping day.  can’t wait to visit another one in the future…the closest one to me is 5 hours away, so it will be a while.  Will can rest easy.

Charleston, SC

The weekend before last we went to Charleston and it was wonderful as always.  Will had a conference for work and luckily my sales territory is in Charleston so we went down on a Saturday and were both able to stay and work through Tuesday.
The thing we do best is eat when we visit….great seafood and low country cooking.
The next best thing we love is looking at houses, oh what beautiful houses.  We were actually looking this time to get ideas for our dream home.  We have a plan to someday build and we want to start really thinking about what we both love so we are dreaming.  Here are a few that were our favorites.
We really like double porches, especially wrap arounds.

This was one of my favorites, Will’s not so much.  I do have a thing to gothic farmhouse styles.

Loving the dark woods on this one.

This was the one that we both liked the best.

We also walked through a really old graveyard, with lots of creepiness.  It is down a long alley…

I’m hoping to use a few pictures in Halloween décor.  I’m thinking black & white with black frames.

We also found this really cool store on King Street, it was chocked full of awesome home décor.
