The yard sale was not all that I had hoped it would be but I did find a few treasures. I went armed with a list and was on the look out for certain things.
File Cabinets
World Globes
Small Furniture to Paint
Small Shelf for Bathroom
I found none of these, didn’t really see any of this except for a shelf that would have worked for the bathroom but they wanted $50!
There was one guy selling a lot of neat old stuff, old tins, soda crates, dishes, and ceramics. I found this lovely lemon sugar dish.
This reminded me of one I had seen at Anthropologie and so I scooped it up for $8.
The only other spot I had luck at was a little store that was having a sale outside but inside was a collection of hoarded finds. There I found two matching McCoy flower pots, a honey bee honey pot, and a crazy squirrel candy dish for my squirrel loving Aunt.
I bought all these pieces for around $20. Ceramics are not my typical find because I am usually not looking for them. I think they are pretty neat and I plan on putting them all to good use.
Did any of you make it out to the sale? If so, what did you find??

30-Mile Yard Sale! Count Me In!!
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
I am getting really excited about a Yard Sale coming to my area this weekend! Right here in the county I live in!!
The yard sale is in Johnston County starting in Kenly, NC and ending in Benson, NC. I have to work Saturday so I am taking off Friday afternoon around lunch and I’ll start in Kenly. I am so excited because this sale starts only about 20 minutes away from my house and I will have a lot of time to check it out! I am also really glad I get to go on the first day of the sale.
Here is the link to the website giving you all the details.

If you are not familiar with the area and plan to go the Selma area should be a really great area because this is a mecca for antiques and I am sure a lot of the stores will be participating in the sale. I am not quite sure what to expect but looking forward to searching for treasures!
Wishing you lots of success if you plan to go! Is anyone planning a trip? If you will be there Friday and we bump into each other, please say HI!

Coastal Table
This unique table just craves a beach house, at least that’s where I feel like it belongs. Or maybe I just want a beach house! I got pretty artistic with this one. I tried dry brushing, which is a new technique for me.
I picked up this table at the Salvation Army for $100, a little more than I like to spend but I really liked the unique look. I tried to learn of it’s history but there are no markings on the table that indicate where it was made or by what furniture company.
I considered keeping this as is and restoring the top which was scratched and water stained but then I love to paint so I tried something different and I am pretty happy with the way it turned out. I did find this little handwritten note on the table top when cleaning it and thought it was pretty cool.
I dry brushed the entire table with three layers of paint. The first layer was a mixture of Masion Blanche Chalk Paint in Silver Mink and ASCP Pure White. The next was ASCP Duck Egg Blue, then ASCP Graphite. Last I added a little more of the white mixture over the darker parts. After all that painting I sanded everything down to smooth things out a bit. It certainly has a unique look to the finish but I like that it is different. Originally I had the top layered but I didn’t like all the brush strokes on the flat surface so I used the white mixture for the top surface.
*Annie Sloan Chalk Paint
If you are not familiar with the dry brushing technique you barely dip your brush in the paint and then you dab off the excess so you are literally painting with a dry paint brush. This takes a long time on a piece this big!
Here is a picture of the table top dry brushed, here you can see what this would look like on a flat surface.
I preferred a solid top so I painted two coats of the 1st paint color to the entire top surface. After I painted the top I lightly sanded to distress the edges and top a little more.
What do you think about this redo? What type of home do you see it in? Love the tripod legs on this one.
I’ll be selling this one so here is hoping it goes to a good home! Perhaps the beach!!

Mirror Update
When we moved into our new house I had every intention on purchasing a new full length mirror to hang in our bedroom. That is still my preference, but we had this sad little mirror sitting in the corner and we had not even put it together yet.
I tried selling it at a yard sale before we moved with no luck so I just decided to paint it until I can buy the one I want. I used ASCP in Aubusson Blue with Duck Egg underneath and some heavy distressing. My pictures are dark but it adds a cheerful blue to our bedroom.
Quick, easy update. The best part is now the mirror is up and in place
